Day 13

Hello Amsterdam!!!

semi-overcast

Well this has been a long long day of traveling which is funny since we only flew from German to the Netherlands, right next door to each other. I prefer later flights, being a non-morning person it allows for a sleep in, time to shower, pack and do it slowly without being rushed. Love it!! Hate the part that involves waiting around for countless hours with nothing to do! It's ok when you are going on a trip to one destination, but when you are literally flying to a new country every 3 days, man it gets tiring!!

After checking out of the hotel for 11am we walked to a cafe and grabbed carbs and a coffee. We sat there for what felt like forever wasting time, since we had all the time in the world. We walked to the train station and figured out the train that goes to the airport and then we were off. By the time we made it to the airport it was literally 1pm, with our flight not until 5! So we sat around some more. Thank god for this iPad! I pretty much bought it to take on this trip and I'm so thankful that I did. It allows me to go on fb, take pics, Internet, read multiple books and watch movies/TV. I'm currently watching season 1 of Felicity...the greatest girly show!! I think I've seen the complete series 5 times now, it never gets old!

So after an hour flight we arrived in Amsterdam. The airport here is amazing! Absoulely amazing! It's huge, has a thousand stores, is very modern and just awesome!! (I've been reading the book of awesome during this trip, and awesome has become my new favourite word! And really if you haven't read the book, I highly recommend you do!). It was problematic finding our hotel as its not on the city center map, so we had no idea where to go. I must have asked 3 people in info booths and no one knew where we had to go. Finally, we found someone who did (though he literally googled it!). We were directed to take the bus 69. Funny thing is, 69 is the only route not posted in a bus terminal sign. And the only bus that doesn't seem to come as often as the others. When we did see the 69 the first time, we actually missed the bus! Noticed it a bit too late, then had to wait 30 more min to catch the next. In the end, we made it. This is the biggest hotel room we've been in yet. It huge and has nice furniture and a big tub and complementary slippers on our bed!!

At this point it was 10pm and we were hungry. We ate at the restaurant outside our hotel window on the water (see fb pic). It ended up being a Turkish restaurant. I ate my first Turkish meal and it was awesome!!!!

We have 2 days here to see as much as we can. We are planning on hitting up a few touristy things like Anne Franks house tomorrow and walk around Amsterdam. We are hoping to do a day trip on Friday. We are going to check at the hotel reception tomorrow about one we saw. It's a Dutch countryside tour, where you get to see cheese making, clog making, windmills and take a boat cruise. I'm all over this!! I love day trips, that means I don't have to think, and I literally came to Amsterdam for a windmill picture!!! So hopefully it works out.

We are almost out of cash, which is stessing us out. Everywhere we try to pay with a credit card they tell us they don't take credit cards. I have 35€ to last me 2 days! Yikes!!!

Ok, it's getting late. Until tomorrow
Love Lins
